Evgeny Kissin to play a Tribute Recital The 17th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition will take place this year on March 14-31, at the Tel Aviv Museum and the Charles Bronfman Auditorium in Tel Aviv. The competition will open with two Gala concerts marking the 150th/80th anniversary of Rachmaninov's death/birth, with Rachmaninov's complete works for piano and orchestra, played by the winners of the last Rubinstein Competition, Juan Perez Floristan, Shiori Kawahara and cunmo Yin, Noriko Ogawa (who is also a Juror in the competition), and Alexander Korsentia, the winner of the 8th competition The 8th and a judge in the 14th competition, with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Paweł Przytocki (Poland). 39 competitors from 18 countries were selected to compete in the competition. The age of the competitors is 18 - 32 and the average age is 24. As always, the jury will be headed by the well-known pianist and teacher, Prof. Arie Verdi, and with Noriko Ogawa (Japan), Ronan O'Hora (UK), Taiseer Elias (Israel), Xiaohan Wang (China), Asaf Zohar (Israel ), Robert Levin (United States), Émile Naoumoff (Bulgaria), Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń (Poland/Bulgaria), Janina Fialkowska (Canada) and yoheved Kaplinsky (USA/Israel).
